The Priory / Canon Walk
Kissing Gate

Artist and blacksmith Angharad Pearce Jones was commissioned to create a bespoke kissing gate for Charles Church’s Canon Walk residential development in Llandough. Jones began by studying Charles Church’s commissioned tree survey of indigenous species, and turned for inspiration to the leaf structure of some of the native trees. Following experimentation with all the leaf forms the artist chose to develop two motifs into a repeat pattern: the leaf of the ash tree features on the kissing gate, and the blackthorn leaf, berries and thorns appear on the railings either side.
