Samtampa Disaster Memorial Public Art Plan

Studio Response devised a Public Art Plan to enable Porthcawl Shout Forum to commission a fitting and permanent tribute to the men who lost their lives in April 1947 when all 39 crew members of the Samtampa Cargo Ship along with eight lifeboat men from Mumbles perished on the rocks at Sker, near Porthcawl, in terrible weather conditions.

Studio Response tries to support the communities in which we live and work, and the places and  stories to which we feel a connection  This was one such project, to which Studio Response donated its time.
