LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME ALONE (LMOLMA) is a permanent public artwork by artists Heather and Ivan Morison. Commissioned by Studio Response on behalf of igloo Regeneration, and co-produced with Chapter, LMOLMA is the artists’ first permanent installation in the UK which can also function as a kiosk for outdoor events in Porth Teigr, Cardiff Bay.

Taking inspiration from the shingled stave churches of Norway and the ad hoc beach shacks of 1960s West Coast America, LMOLMA has a faceted animal-like form, framed in Welsh larch and oak and clad in burnt and tarred hand split chestnut shakes. Within the interior, accessed through a cave-like tunnel, light filters in through irregularly shaped windows, glazed in pastel hues, to create pools of pink and purple.

Across Cardiff Contemporary 2015, Chapter and the artists curated a programme of local musicians and sound artists to create atmospheric, end-of-the world folk music at LMOLMA. Together with the artists’ bespoke evening lighting, fire pit and seating, LMOLMA and its surrounding area transforms into a beautiful multi functioning artwork.
