Bike Shelter Commission

The Porth Teigr development is a 38-acre mixed-use, sustainable development project in Cardiff Bay, led jointly by igloo Regeneration (an Aviva Investors fund) and the Welsh Government. GloWorks is the new creative industries centre in the heart of Porth Teigr, offering studio space, offices, retail and  associated infrastructure for a range of small, high-growth creative businesses.

On behalf of igloo Regeneration, Studio Response commissioned architect Rhian Thomas to develop a landmark sculptural artwork for GloWorks, which functions as a bike shelter to aid in the encouragement of sustainable / active travel by the building’s users. Thomas developed a design that is both sympathetic to the architecture of the building and the sustainable ethos of the Porth Teigr development.
